Our History
George ‘Buddy’ Moss’s Uncle Herman who was also called ‘Judge’ bought his first restaurant in 1945 on Legion Street in Clarksville, Tennessee. Buddy washed dished for his Uncle and evidently got the restaurant bug. Buddy’s Uncle Herman also owned a restaurant across from B.G. Goodrich (Vulcan). Buddy continued to help him at the restaurant and also would drive him to Guthrie to purchase clothes and other items at Jenkins’ Department Store. Uncle Herman continued in the restaurant business until he sold the restaurant in St. Bethlehem where the U.S. Bank now sits.
George ‘Buddy’ Moss purchased the restaurant, Amy’s, in Guthrie at a sale. His wife, Barbara, said he came home and told her “I bought you a restaurant.” The restaurant became Moss’s Coach House Restaurant at 5145 US Highway 41, just south of the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line near Guthrie, Kentucky. The business continued there until the night of 12 August 2012 when the building was destroyed by fire, robbery and arson.
The family began operating the current restaurant Moss's Restaurant on 10 April 2013 in the historic Bell School at Adams, Tennessee.
